In developing determinations, the Tribunal considers a range of matters including:
- existing salaries, allowances and entitlements
- other jurisdictions
- a selection of benchmarks
- economic factors
- feedback from key stakeholders
- the role and responsibilities of an MP, former MP and various office holders.
On 9 March 2017 the Tribunal issued Determination 14/2017 to set the additional salary payable to the Office of Leader of the House, effective 14 February 2017.
The Tribunal also called for and received 2568 public submissions.
